I constantly review the state of the information industry by reading periodicals, browsing web sites, networking with other professionals, and pricing products. Some time ago, at an important juncture in my career, I arrived at several conclusions about the things I saw happening which I freely share with you.
Together these insights have shaped my direction. Mentata Systems is devoted exclusively to web software and services. I am starting with an architecture robust enough to ensure privacy but flexible and sophisticated enough to enable multi-tier security schemes. I will build applications on this infrastructure that provide high informational value at a low infrastructure and ownership cost. I am committed to selling services, not software, and I want to focus my efforts on supporting individuals and small businesses. Above all, I want to be open and honest about how I plan to do it.
My central vision is of a vendor/customer relationship that is balanced, symbiotic, and truly win-win. I do believe it can be so.
