As a former member of the United States military, this is done out of complete and utter respect. I did not know any of these people personally, but I credit them with courage and allegiance. For any troubles the invasion may cause, for whatever motives it was contrived, I assume these are blameless. If, during my years of active duty, I were called to war in the Middle East or elsewhere, I would hopefully have done what was asked of me. My own stance against the war and the current administration's foreign policy is in no way intended to trivialize their sacrifice. It instead asks if their lives as well as thousands more have been spent and will be spent injudiciously on account of one tribe's folly wampum fascista. I hope good can be now made from the remains of another country for the benefit of the oppressed people of another region. If it is, let that be the legacy of these brave men and boys. If not, may they still not be forgotten. |
