Well most Americans don't care much about what's going on in our government in the first place. I'm writing because I do, because I don't see my views represented in mainstream media, and because I want to see the Internet continue to fulfill its destiny as a bastion of free speech. There are others who feel this way, but each will only provide an individual's perspective. It's likely you'll disagree with mine in places, and I'd venture to say some would take an ideological stand against my perspective as a rule, so for their benefit let me be upfront about where I'm coming from. Although I'd call myself a libertarian, I'm not one to parrot the views of any party, but rather I firmly believe our federal government has grown too big, too invasive, too adventurous, too stagnant, and too corrupt to let it continue to expand in any new dimensions. I make no secret of my criticism of the current administration, and can assure any neoconservatives with a hard-on for the GOP that you will find little support from me for the agendas I've seen put forward to date. Try to laugh me off as a loopy liberal or a hippie, but I'm something new and different: I'm not granola, I'm Grape Nuts with soy milk. I want to see a free market and a free society make the world a better place. As such, I'm also enthusiastically open to engagement. Using the form that follows each political statement, you can add your own comments and on my word I will leave your text in place completely uncensored as is. Your anonymity is assured unless you otherwise reveal yourself. If you have something to say about me or my opinions, I'd just as soon host it myself. I'm not here to jerk knees, but I will respond in my own defense where I feel it's appropriate. Walk away at your own risk, because you won't change my mind by ignoring me and I'm absolutlely not going to shut up until I say when... (Oct 2003) even if nobody seems to care at all. The audience I'm really after is posterity. |
