This year is finally over, the election results are in, and this essay cycle shall finally close. The project was pre-conceived: my first album. At this historic juncture, I have again taken some time to review the content of my site and perform the requisite soul-searching that comes with reading one's frankest and most controversial thoughts. It's been abnormally painless as deep regrets are not forthcoming, but there was one exception and I have a serious apology to make: I was too rough on the Wiggles because those guys really have a great deal to offer kids, like integrity. They sweat because what they do really is hard work.
I harbor absolutely no regrets about anything I've done in support of John Kerry or anything I've said about the Bush administration. Election outcomes are irrelevant to my convictions.
I got a call last week from a dotty woman in Ohio who expects otherwise. Without giving cause, she said outright that I was a liar, insulted my own military service, expressed and re-expressed her firm belief that my wife would never perform an abortion, foretold condemnation as our children would forever resent us for time spent in daycare, and accused me of trafficking in pornography. Her voice was pitched as a keen, our conversation followed an irrational course, and she frequently cut me off to repeat herself. She wanted to know how I felt now that "99% of the country showed they completely disagreed with [my] point of view". When I made the mistake of engaging her, I regrettably lost my cool and raised my voice (just like my father). For that I heard the staunchly proud Christian (?) woman cackling with glee. Well that's alright, I was told to expect no honor in my house or country. If I instead expected the true honesty, earnestness, and vision of Kerry to recover the hearts of the misinformed, obdurate, anti-liberal, and enfranchised on its own merits, do you think I would feel such a strong need to speak? The re-elected president has already made a vigorous public case for himself, and I know slick advertising can be effective for even the worst products. I'm not ashamed of what I have written and sung here, and as you get the next four shipments of bad fruit maybe you can accept my challenge to point out what I got wrong. I'm confident history will make my case, unless George has done some soul searching of his own. Meanwhile, here is my final message for those at the base of the base.
Your patriotism is blind nationalism, your invocation of Christianity is a defilement, and your chosen leader is making suckers of you all. Wish I could help.
I intended to be a mirror by which you could see yourselves. God has occasionally granted me the courage to change things where I can and I believe I do have the serenity to accept where I can't, but I was asked specifically to suspend my wisdom and attempt to dissuade an emergent majority that they are wrong about some fundamental things. As if to guarantee rejection, I was to do so boldly and from the heart. That's uphill in all directions, my friends, and it does nothing but strain relationships. I personally didn't have anything to gain from this work if Kerry won or not. Quite the contrary; I have suffered a fascinating persecution for my small efforts and could surely only expect more, living as I do in the reddest of America's rare meat. Those that should be teaching forgiveness for all their pretenses are sharpening their skill at organized condemnation. The GOP represents a team of supracorporate pseudoreligious power willing to tip balances in their favor through wickedness. Anybody remember any history? Radicals who are radicalizing the world are asking what's got me radicalized.
(besides reactionary parents)
Forget for a moment the tragedy of turning democracy to televangelism, freedom to criminalization, diversity to disenfranchisement, prosperity to bankruptcy, and diplomacy to warmongering. How about a violation of my personal rights? I didn't just get some phone calls from disturbed opposing voices, some time ago I had a disturbed opposing voice patch into my line and interrupt a separate business conversation to tell me where to stick it for some of the earliest words I posted on this site. Note that is not *just* wiretapping. I will undoubtedly never know who it was, some well-equipped freeper nutjob or former Attorney General John Ashcroft himself, but since he proved my point I knew the impulse was righteous.
Many astray would trust everything Fox News belches over anything I may say as an aware individual. Satisfied at representing better values, they perhaps flip over to the latest episode of reality TV hit "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy" running on Fox as well. Or maybe they just bask in self-congratulation. It's nice to be told what you want to hear. Nothing they can say hurts more than the truth of the Bush years. What words pack more pain than watching these "conservative" fools increase the cost of government across the board, spending our grandchildren's taxes and throwing the dollar down the toilet. Not content with our country or the Eastern Mediterranean seaboard, their one superpower vision shall see fit to ghettoize much of the remaining world for short-term profit and an ungodly rich-poor gap: the very recipe for everlasting war and terror (and this round, it goes nuclear). Perhaps we could abolish speed limits and turn our highway system into a federal NASCAR track to double our fossil fuel burn rate and bring even Mother Nature to blows. Want to see the end in our own lifetimes? Nah, let's just screw the unborn. That's right, it's tomorrows children that are going to inherit the mess the elders of today bequeath. Maybe they can reconstitute the nation, because the baby boom has delivered a profound bust.
- Most of our contemporaries are pseudo-scientists who mingle truth with falsehood, who are not above deceit and pedantry, and who use the little that they know of the sciences for base material purposes only. When they see a distinguished man intent on seeking truth, one who prefers honesty and does his best to reject falsehood and lies, avoiding hypocrisy and treachery, they despise him and make fun of him. In all circumstances, we seek refuge in God, the Helper.

I thought of this quote when I saw Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist as physician and leader say there are no useful medical purposes for stem cell research just after reading about the functioning kidney tissue developed from them in Korea. That sort of thing keeps me off C-SPAN, if not television. When everybody is painted as a liar, the bigger liars are bound to win. Whatever happened in the campaign, the vote was determined by public desire to punish sexual promiscuity, keep homosexuals out of the mainstream, and endorse the fantasy of the Iraq war (in stark contrast with the reality). The most loyal proponents have shown they will lie, cheat, and steal to see this agenda through. I was sent to warn this generation but given no hope of saving it. I host these essays with a prayer that they might help inform the American future as to where things started going horribly wrong. Meanwhile, I have no desire to spin my wheels further. Thank you John Kerry for a solid effort. Thanks Ralph... Maryland gave you one from me in swap. I'll check out the inevitable books when they arrive, and I strongly encourage you to write them because otherwise most people still may never discover who you really are. I personally plan to move on and focus on other subjects. Anything more would surely be a waste of my time; you know where I stand.
I'm all out of songs from my special collection, but I've held on to one more I wanted to put out. I splurged on 8 tracks, recording and mixing everything in two hours on the same gear.
Many people can listen and know who I'm talking about here, and I don't believe he was allowed to vote in the recent election. However, I'm sure that there were a few at the most sinistral of the big 51% tent that were swayed by his arguments: that ponderous caucus of immigrant socialist humanist atheist Republicans. I will admit Christopher made the only legitimate arguments I heard anywhere for invading Iraq, but alas they came from a talking head in a public debate and not the talking head in the Oval Office. After witnessing the motive-revealing progress of nation building conducted by the executive thus far, I can't see how either of them smile. Yet they do, strange bedfellows, more than ever.
- What can you expect from someone on a personal mission to lay bare the many crimes of Mother Teresa?
This song is dedicated to all those who have chosen our president instead... not to vote for, but to criticize. The patriots. Those that walk in the path of Jesus. The servants, the remaining conscience of America. Blessings on you all, and may God bring peace even to those that don't believe. Under the license, you are permitted to copy, distribute, or perform any of my songs free of charge. Yep, freedom in action.
I saw my scheme through and I have no regrets as I say, but this is done. I need this space to talk about software again, and I need my whole brain back for the next big adventure. Who cares what I think about the government? The ball is squarely in Bush court, so I'll now do my detractors the favor they might ask. I'll shut up. Not that we won't meet again. Click. Reset.
