Representative Jim McDermott of Washington represents himself with intelligence, as one might expect from a former physician. He was recently called on the carpet for accusing Bush of lying to the American public. He was in Iraq at the time, so the act was viewed as disloyal and even treasonous despite the fact the comments were being broadcast only on U.S. television. It really doesn't matter if he's right. Bush now hacks away at veterans' benefits, content to show America how much he supports our troops when they make a penultimate sacrifice for their country. McDermott, as a witness to the effects of agent orange, resents this inconsistency. He also mentions he doesn't attend the House military briefings on Iraq because, he says, they contain no new or secret information but require signing unusually tight secrecy pacts.

One caller suggested he go back to Baghdad. Nice.
