Bombs Away

The first attack on Baghdad, a precision bombing of a strategic target, and the war is on...

The president's address to the nation was clearly well-practiced. He exuded the confidence that can only come from knowing that everything was going according to the plans of years. It's too bad the speech writers insist on stressing the sham link to 9/11, but I'm sure this gesture accurately captures and deftly harnesses the spirit of urgent vengeance that's fueling this campaign, and the next.

The comments from the public go on for hours. America is clearly divided. I don't believe I'm the only one who thought so, but IMHO the most intelligent and circumspect comments came from a 13 year old girl.

This was all followed by the CBC take. Peter Mansbridge, Canada's Cronkite, was jolly and smug. The graphics were like Monday Night Football. Correspondent Paul Workman even called his description of the warfare thus far as "the state of play". It's all just a game up north, isn't it.
