Dishonourable Media

The Media Research Center is a self-proclaimed leader in the war on liberal media bias. Their response, naturally, is to provide an inordinate amount of conservative media bias. Now the news can completely fail to resemble the truth. Great work.

At the "Dishonours Awards", these pundits and their sugar daddies take turns lambasting the journalists they despise. The usual suspects are in attendance, with MC duties falling to Cal Thomas. Ann Coulter, cover girl for Al Franken's upcoming Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, takes the podium intent on character immolation by spewing personal invectives. Everybody is drinking, talking about drinking, or visibly drunk. It's a sea of smiling, puffy red faces in black tie, enthusiastically telling others to "go to hell".

Brent Bozell plays lead cheerleader when the time comes to select "the most vile, obnoxious, repulsive journalist in America". There are some boos for Barbara Walters highlighing Castro's commitment to Cuban literacy, despite the fact that what she is saying is entirely true. ABC's David Wright makes a better contender, discussing Saddam Hussein's popularity in Iraqi national elections. Still, it's Bill Moyers as the runaway victor with his piece on the right-wing agenda. I'll of course be seeking nomination next year.

Bozell breaks the world of radio and TV news down for us into the clean categories of "Us" (Rush Limbaugh, Fox) and "Them" (everybody else). When and if any remaining credibility gets revoked and the conversation breaks down entirely, I'll be sure to remind him who drew those lines.
