I have to admit, I never knew that Congress had a pastor and that each session was opened in prayer. To be fair, what I usually see has been kept vague and intentionally non-denominational. It's different with guest Pastor Clint Decker opens the House today, bringing us the Clay Center Wesleyan Church perspective. Looking like another member of the Kings of Leon, he belts it out revival-style in the name of Jeee-sus. Sponsor Jerry Moran smiles approvingly. Then everyone says the Pledge, with the indignant Republican emphasis for "under God" still audible.
I don't believe we live in a theocracy yet, but when our government starts to look like a parochial school classroom, I have to wonder about the destination of the movement afoot.
