| This vote was on final passage of the Patients' Bill of Rights sponsored by Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), John Edwards (D-N.C.) and Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.). The bill would improve patient access to care and allow patients to hold HMOs accountable in court for the damages caused by their failure to provide necessary medical treatment. Passed 59 Yea to 36 Nay. |
