Legal Rights: Mandatory Arbitration in Farm Bill |
| This vote was on an amendment (Amdt. 2522) to the Farm Bill (S. 1731), sponsored by Sens. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa). It would have prohibited meatpackers from imposing mandatory arbitration in contracts with farmers. Mandatory Arbitration is generally recognized as being unfair because of high costs and biased procedures favoring larger businesses over customers or employees. Passed 64 Yea to 32 Nay. |
