Energy: Fuel Economy Standards |
| This vote was on an amendment (Amdt. 2997), offered by Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), to the Senate energy bill (S. 517), that eliminated requirements on auto companies to raise fleetwide corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) to at least 35 miles per gallon by 2013. Instead, the Department of Transportation would be required to issue new CAFE standards in two years but no minimum miles per gallon standard is mandated. Passed 62 Yea to 38 Nay. |
