Medical Negligence |
| Vote on final passage of a bill that would hinder the ability of injured patients to recover damages for medical negligence. The bill would limit non-economic damages (for pain, suffering, disfigurement) to $250,000; immunize HMOs, hospitals, nursing homes, and drug companies as well as doctors from punitive damages for reckless conduct; and allow defendants to pay damages in installments penalizing injured patients. Passed 217 Yea to 203 Nay. |
